Rom-Coms, (or romantic comedies) don't seem to be in different categories, some are over the top funny, while others try to mix in a harsh dose of reality with its small moments of comedy. But when you add to much reality in the movie, at what point is it a drama more than a comedy. The concept of the movie is, what happens when friends decide to have a baby, without adding any of the love and romance to it? And the outcome is just about as weird and undoable as what you would expect.
For me, there were also a lot of recognizable faces in this movie, except the main actress, which was weird for me. Jennifer Westfeldt (the blonde) was the girl who cared to much and ended up getting hurt in the end and Adam Scott acted as the Manhattans best playboy who got with Megan Fox throughout the movie. Frankly the other reason that I didn't like this movie is that I cant really tolerate Adam Scott, in anything that hes in really. I think that he was born to play the pretentious asshole in most all of his roles in tv shows and movies and I cant get past what I think is his predictable acting.
This movie also takes on this weird concept that resolved very oddly. so (SPOILERS). At the end of the movie, with just a couple minutes left. Adam Scott has his realization moment in the middle of New York traffic and rushes back to Jennifer Westfeldt's house to have his crying, realization, "I was wrong" moments in her arms. And he tells her that he wants to, "fuck the shit out of her", to which she says, "fuck the shit out of me"...that's it. Credits role. I get that this is to better show Adam Scotts douchebag personality in somewhat of a resolving way for him to show growth. But that's not how you do it, and I'm sure a lot of people would agree.
