Undergrad Rating: 4/10 not a classic, but the farthest from a bad movie
Reviews: IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes
Where to Find: Disney +
It has been a little bit since Frozen 2 has been on Disney +, and may be one of the most polarizing movies that I have reviewed thus far. I have experienced this first hand, because me and my friend have been at odds discussing if 1. Frozen 2 is better than Frozen 1. And 2. if this can be considered a classic Disney movie.
and to this day, there still hasn't been a clear verdict on the matter.
In any case, I think that this movie has some good things going on. I think that some of the songs are good, but doesn't quite compare to the original, ear-wig like, and charming songs that came with the first one. This movies fall-based color pallet of pinks, greys, blues, and greens helps this movie to pop more than the first movies plane white and blue colors.
But I think that Frozen 2 pails in comparison to the original. I think that the first movie had more of an interesting story that kept the audience watching with its fantasy monsters and idea of self abuse. I also don't remember a lot of good things that I liked from the movie, I just simply remember it being "all-right". And to me a for a movie to be considered an interesting or even classic, it must find a way to keep your attention and stimulate your expectations, or at the very least change your expectations. And this movie fails to do that, I even found their attempts at comedy to be lacking in places, even in visual comedy.
This movie simply exists to me, and helps to provide an ending to a franchise for die hard fans and children to gawk at. Again, its not a bad movie, just something that fails to meet my expectations for a classic Disney movie.
