It seems that A24 has been making some very interesting movies since 2017, and The Lighthouse is no exception. There are only two characters in this movie, and both Robert Patterson and William Defoe are Fantastic in this movie.

What this movie does is explores the effects of isolation and how much tension, paranoia, and hallucinations come from this. The setting is put on a single rock in off the British coast, and all hell breaks loose once the relief ship to take them off the rock is delayed

for weeks due to a horrible storm.

Though this movie is supposed to be a horrer film, I would call this a psychedelic drama. Especially with some of the scenes having some strange visuals and curious sea fable driven' effects woven into the story like mermaids, references to Neptune, and the Kraken. This helps to show a different type of world that isn't always shown in movies these days.

The ending and several things that happen during in the movie are a little confusing without some background information behind the creative inspiration behind the film. The Correlation behind these two characters comes from the Greek Mythos of Prometheus stealing the fire of enlightenment from the Gods (don't quote me on the specifics). But you'll understand after some easy reading here.

This movie offers a different experience and is somewhat of an experimental film that I don't see everyone likening. So if your wanting to try a new viewing experience and watch something different. Then this is the film for you, after all it is free right now!
